Logbook Lending FAQs
We receive a number of questions regarding Brinklow logbook loan applications, so for your convenience we have answered as many of the popular questions received below:
How do Buckinghamshire V5 Logbook Loans work?
Borrowing against the value of your car, or V5 loans are a form of secured lending where Brinklow borrowers temporarily transfer ownership of their car via the V5 document in exchange for an agreed amount. You need to own the car yourself (although a small amount of finance is allowed) then you simply hand over the V5 document to the lender. You can borrow up to 80% of the car’s current value, and repay the loan in instalments up to 36 months (early settlement is not penalised). V5 loans are popular with Brinklow residents as they are frequently more accessible to those with lower credit scores that might have been refused elsewhere.
What documents do I need to provide?
Enquiring about a loan is easy and only takes a few minutes of your time. You’ll need to provide some personal information along with a copy of your photo ID, your logbook (or V5 documents) most recent MOT, proof of car insurance, proof of Buckinghamshire residency, and proof of income. These things will all help lenders verify your identity and ownership, and it will also help lenders decide what type of loan you can qualify for.
Why opt for Brinklow Logbook Loans?
Unlike other types of loan, the requirements needed for borrowing against your vehicle are minimal. You simply need to meet a few requirements; that is, you must be of the legal age, and own a car (or have very little finance remaining) which you can offer for collateral. If you meet this criteria and live in Buckinghamshire, you are free to apply for this type of loan. So long as you are the car owner, you may be able to obtain the loan even if you’ve a history of default. The amount of money you can borrow normally depends on the value of the car you’re using for security. Also, if you’ve finance on the car already, some Brinklow loan lenders might still lend you some money, so long as the car is worth more than what’s owed on it.
Unemployed but want a Logbook Loan... is this possible?
Brinklow residents that find themselves unemployed but still want to take out a loan gainst there vehicle have to meet certain criteria in order to be successful. For instance you have to prove that the monthly loan repayments are affordable in order to avoid arrears and the possible loss of your car. Responsible Buckinghamshire lenders won’t grant loans to those who cannot afford the repayments. To find out more simply get in touch today!
Does a poor credit score mean no loan?
If you have been refused a loan elsewhere in Buckinghamshire, a loan secured against your car might be the solution because of the easy application process and simple requirements. Although all Brinklow loan applicants are still credit checked, these loans can often be a solution for those with a poor credit score, but own a car which they can use as collateral. As responsible lenders, credit checks have to be undertaken so as to establish whether the loan is affordable. However, people with poor credit scores may still find themselves eligible to borrow.
What if I can’t prove my income?
In order to be eligible for Brinklow V5 loans the lender needs to be sure that you can afford the repayments. Responsible lending is important to ensure you don’t fall into arrears or risk losing ownership of your vehicle, and if the lender cannot prove this then you won’t be offered a loan. In circumstances such as this it’s always best to get in touch direct using the form you can see on this page.
Who should maintain the car during the loan?
When you enquire about a loan, you will be asked to provide proof of insurance. Throughout the duration of the loan, it will be your duty to keep that insurance paid and up-to-date. All maintenance falls on you, the owner of the car. Remember that you will have access to your car throughout the loan period, so MOT testing and servicing will continue to be your responsibility. Although some general wear and tear during the loan period is to be expected, the car should be maintained to roughly the same value as the agreed-upon loan. If changes that significantly reduce this value should occur, it is important for you to notify the loan company right away.
Will my HPI check show any Logbook Loans?
All loans such as Brinklow V5 loans should show up on a HPI search as a Bill of Sale Agreement. A ruling was introduced that requires Buckinghamshire lenders to register every loan with companies such as HPI. If for any reason you find there to be a loan against your vehicle which did not show up on a HPI search, then you will be entitled to up to £30,000 according to the HPI guarantee.
What are the repayment durations?
You can choose to repay your loan in either 12, 18 or 36 month instalments. What’s more there is no penalty for settling your loan early so you could save money on monthly interest payments by repaying your loan sooner.
