V5 Car Loan FAQs
There are a number of questions we receive regarding Kenfig Hill logbook loans,so for your convenience we have compiled a list of answers to the more frequently asked questions we receive on a daily basis.
How do they work?
Quite simply the way Kenfig Hill Logbook Loans work is that you use your car as security in order to receive a loan against the value of it. In order to receive the loan you need to own the car yourself (or have very little finance on it) then hand over the V5 document in exchange for an agreed amount of up to 80% of the car’s value. You can carry on driving your car throughout the loan period, and once repaid your V5 document is returned to you. They are particularly popular in Bridgend as they can often be available to residents with poor credit scores.
What documents should I supply to proceed?
Loan enquiries are not complicated, and most can be completed in just a few minutes. After providing some basic information about yourself, you should be prepared to provide copies of your photo ID, V5 documents, current MOT, most recent utility bill (must be in your name), proof of car insurance, and proof of income, which may be a copy of your bank statement or several payslips.
Are V5 Logbook Loans a good idea?
Absolutely, especially if you have had a loan refused elsewhere due to a poor credit history/score. As your car is used as security you may find that Bridgend logbook lenders are more willing to lend money where other lenders might pass, which is why they are so popular throughout Kenfig Hill. So long as you meet the loan criteria then you could be lending up to 80% of your car’s value very quickly indeed.
I’m currently unemployed, can I get a Logbook Loan?
One of the key requirements to taking out Bridgend loans against your vehicle logbook is that you can prove to the provider that you can afford to make the monthly repayments. This is part of a responsible lending approach that helps ensure you do not default on your payments and risk your vehicle not being returned. Therefore if you are in Kenfig Hill and unemployed you still need to be able to prove that you can afford the repayments to qualify for the loan.
Can I Get a Loan With a Poor Credit Score?
Taking out a loan when you’ve bad credit score is tough for many Kenfig Hill borrowers. Because of the poor credit score, major loan lenders like banks are less likely to approve your loan application. Bridgend lenders might be able to provide a more accessible option despite the bad credit. Although you will still have to undergo a credit check, V5 lenders can be more tolerant to bad credit scores; as responsible Bridgend lenders, they will have to assess the loan applicant’s ability to repay the loan, and their vehicle’s value to ensure that the loan can be guaranteed.
Is it a problem if I can’t prove my income level?
In order to qualify for Kenfig Hill logbook loans you need to be able to prove that you can afford the monthly repayments. Responsible lending means that Bridgend V5 lenders will not offer you a loan unless they are certain that repayments can be made. This is to avoid you going in to arrears and risking losing your car. If you can’t prove your income then get in touch today to discuss your options and see if you’re eligible for a V5 document loan.
Car maintenance - whose responsibility?
During the entire period of your loan, it is your responsibility to maintain the car. The lender does not and will not take possession of the car unless you default on your payments. As part of your agreement, you should ensure that your car is regularly serviced, that MOT checks are completed, and that you maintain proper insurance throughout the entire period of your loan. If any of these things do not occur for any reason, or if the value of your car decreases substantially due to damage or a mechanical failure, you should notify your lender.
Do Logbook Loans show on a HPI check?
Yes. It is a requirement for all Bridgend lenders to register each and every loan via companies such as HPI. In the unlikely event that you discover your new car to have a loan attached to it that didn’t show up on a HPI check then you will be eligible for up to £30,000 reimbursement in accordance with the HPI guarantee.
How long do I have to repay?
Your loan can be arranged with three different repayment durations... 12, 18 or 36 months. Your interest is charged monthly, and there are no penalties for settling the loan early which means you can save money on the total amount payable.
