So how does a Logbook Loan work?
A loan against your car, or V5 loan is a very straightforward way to lend money, especially for Berkshire residents who have had more traditional loan applications refused. Quite simply, you use your car’s V5 document as security to lend money against the value of your car. Anything up to 80% of the current market value can be borrowed, and repayments can be spread over 12, 18 or 36 months. What’s more, you can continue to drive your vehicle throughout the loan period, and upon completion your V5 document is returned.
What will I need to apply?
You’ll need to provide several forms of documentation before you can successfully enquire about a loan. Of course, the most important of these are your valid photo identification and your V5 documents, or logbook, as these will prove that you are the rightful owner of the car you want to use as security. You should also bring a current MOT, proof of insurance, and a copy of your most recent utility bill (in your name) to prove your Berkshire residency, along with payslips or bank statements that show your income.
Why are Logbook Loans in Warfield a good idea?
This kind of loan is ideal for Berkshire residents who have bad credit score and have no other form of finance available to them. Regardless of how bad or poor your credit score history, there could be less chance of getting rejected. You simply need to meet the requirements, especially pertaining ownership of the car, and you could be approved for the loan. Your credit history might not be a negative factor when issuing the approval for your loan application. Generally, approval for lending against your Warfield vehicle mainly depends on the make or model of the car that you’re using as security. You can even get money on the same day!.
I’m currently unemployed, can I get a Logbook Loan?
One of the key requirements to taking out Berkshire loans against your vehicle logbook is that you can prove to the provider that you can afford to make the monthly repayments. This is part of a responsible lending approach that helps ensure you do not default on your payments and risk your vehicle not being returned. Therefore if you are in Warfield and unemployed you still need to be able to prove that you can afford the repayments to qualify for the loan.
I have a poor credit score... can I get a loan?
Quite possibly yes! In fact Berkshire lenders could be more accepting of those with less than desirable credit scores as your car’s V5 document is retained as security making it a lower risk loan for the lender. It’s important to realise that all Warfield applicants are still credit checked, but may find this type of loan more accepting than others.
I can’t prove my current income... does that matter?
Responsible lending entails only lending money to Warfield applicants who can prove that they can afford the monthly repayments. It’s a way of trying to avoid accounts entering into arrears and even the repossession of a vehicle. Warfield v5 logbook loans are only offered to those who can prove that they can make the repayments, so if you have trouble doing so it’s best to get in touch to discuss the best option for your lending needs.
Who is responsible for general car maintenance?
Although the loan is secured with your car, you get to keep your car throughout the duration of the loan as long as you make the payments on time as agreed. Because the car stays in your possession, it also stays under your car. You will be required to have regular MOT checks, to have the car serviced, and to maintain insurance on the car at all times. If you do not, or if anything should affect the car’s value (other than normal mileage and wear and tear), then you should contact your lender.
Will a HPI check show a Loan?
Any loans taken out against the car are normally recorded on a database which is known as the HPI Index where anybody can check for the vehicle’s history prior to purchasing it. When you do a HPI check, you will get to know the vehicle’s true financial history. The HPI check report will also show you the vehicle’s history including; whether the logbook is legitimate, insurance write-off, previous number of owners, previous number plate changes, potential mileage discrepancies, and more.
How long do I have to repay?
Your loan can be arranged with three different repayment durations... 12, 18 or 36 months. Your interest is charged monthly, and there are no penalties for settling the loan early which means you can save money on the total amount payable.
